We are spiritual beings having a human experience. The focus of this practice is to utilize both aspects and guide clients to recognize their true nature and restore inner peace.
Kitty was born into a family profoundly affected by the death of her uncle during early childhood. The loss created a ripple effect of dysfunction within the family system that would shape much of her early life and personal journey.
For nearly 40 years, she searched for healing, meaning, and spiritual understanding through religion, self-help literature, Al-Anon Family Groups, Unity Church, mindfulness meditation, and the study of A Course in Miracles.
In her 40s, she felt called to pursue a Master’s degree in Clinical Social Work. She went on to work in oncology and hospice care before opening her own private psychospiritual counseling practice in 2012.
Today, Kitty combines her clinical experience with spiritual insight to help others heal emotional wounds, deepen self-awareness, and reconnect with what they define as God, Love, and inner peace. Through counseling, writing, and spiritual reflection, she encourages others to move beyond fear, separation, and self-judgment into a greater experience of connection and compassion.
When something traumatic happens, it gets locked into the nervous system with the original picture, sounds, thoughts, feelings, and so on. Being locked there, the experience continues to be triggered whenever a reminder comes up. It can be the basis for a lot of discomfort and negative emotions, such as fear and helplessness which seem uncontrollable. These are actually the emotions connected with the old experience being triggered.
There is a technique called Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) where eye movements, vibrations or tones stimulate each side of the brain. This movement seems to unlock the nervous system and allows your brain to process the experience. This may be what happens in REM, or dream sleep. The stimulation helps in processing the unconscious material. The healing is powerful and takes less time, like counseling on steroids.
This type of therapy doesn't lessen the emotional pain brought up in conventional therapy, but completion of the therapy mutes the feelings without erasing the memory. After successful completion, the memory can be brought up without the emotional impact.
Mindfulness Meditation has proven to be effective in focusing thought processes, reducing stress and increasing insight. Research has shown it changes brain patterns and helps with symptoms of chronic illnesses and gives a sense of well being. The program Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction by Jon Kabat Zinn has been used with excellent results. The button below will take you to the free online site.
Kitty produces a weekly Blog on Substack named The Call to Love. They contain a blend of her life experiences in Al-Anon, Mindfulness Meditation, and living the wisdom she found in A Course in Miracles.
